How to Add Your EZproxy Modifier to eBook Links
June 04 2013 12:45 PM

If your institution uses a proxy server for remote access, be aware that eBook direct URLs do not inherently contain proxy server login information. To ensure ease of remote proxied use when sharing content/posting links, you can add proxy login information to direct URLs manually. If proxy login information is not added to direct URLs, remote users may be required to log in in order to access the linked content.

Before you can apply your EZproxy information to eBook direct URLs, you must first set up EZproxy authentication for eBooks.

To apply your EZproxy information to eBook direct URLs:

  1. Copy your proxy modifier onto the Clipboard.
  2. View the specific  eBook you would like to link to. If you would like to link to a specific chapter or page, navigate to that chapter or page.
  3. Click Direct URLs in the left panel.
  4. Click the type of link you would like: Title URL, Chapter URL, or Page URL.
  5. In the text box, you will see the direct URL. Paste your proxy modifier into the direct URL text.
  6. Click the Highlight link to select the modified direct URL, and then copy.
  7. Paste the direct URL wherever you would like to add a link to the eBook content.
  8. Test the URL to make sure it is working correctly.
