Today's Science Introduces Featured Article Widget
Jane Flynn September 30 2013 02:10 PM

We are pleased to announce the launch of an exciting new feature for the Today's ScienceThe Featured Article Widget. The Featured Article Widget offers a new way to boost usage, providing students and patrons with a targeted and timely entry point into the Today's Science site.

This new feature is available on the home page by clicking on the <>Embed Featured Article link just below the Featured Article box.

Clicking on this link will display the HTML code that a teacher or librarian can copy and use on their own website or LibGuide. By placing this HTML code on their site, students or patrons will see the Today's Science Featured Article Widget display within that site.

The story that displays within the widget will change every time a new Featured Story is highlighted on the Today's Science home page. The school or library will not have to change anything on their website – the newest story will just display automatically.

Because the widget includes a layer of authentication similar to a Record URL, students or patrons can click on the title of the article in the widget to access the full story within Today's Science. If the institution is using IP authentication or referring URL authentication, clicking on the title will take the user directly to that article. If the institution is using Username/Password authentication, users will be prompted to log in and then they will be taken directly to the featured article.
